On the 7th of June, a conference organised by the Association of European Radios took place in one of the EU Parliament plenary rooms. The main subject was “Radio is Your Trusted Guide in the Digital Single Market” and covered areas of the recent legislation process. Our CEO, Michal Marcinik was one of the exceptional guests.

The conference was hosted by Marlene Mizzi (Member of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament – S&D, Malta) who outlined the work her team and her performed on the European Electronic Communications Code. She stressed that the legislators have managed to reach what seems to be an acceptable compromise for radios, pushing digital broadcasting in cars, whilst recognising that online is important and that FM is still the main door to access radio.

Then, the keynote speech was delivered by Manuel Mateo, Member of the Cabinet of Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner in charge of the Digital Economy and Society. Caroline Grazé, Radioplayer Germany MD, presented the Radioplayer. It was followed by a panel discussion between European Members of Parliament: Pervenche Berès and Nadjia Hirsch, and Manuel Mate Goyet who is a member of UE Commissioner Mariya Gabriel cabinet and Julia Maier-Huff, General Secretary of AER. Some remarks about incoming directives of ePrivacy and Single Market was made, as well as SatCab regulation.
