Audio Advertising Shines at Cannes Lions 2025

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2025 once again proved that audio advertising is a powerhouse of innovation and impact. Among this year’s highlights, Budweiser stole the spotlight, taking home the coveted Grand Prix in the Audio & Radio category with an audaciously brief and brilliantly executed one-second ad.

Produced by Africa Creative DDB, São Paulo, the ad was part of a unique campaign that challenged listeners to recognise world-famous songs from just their opening notes. This minimalist yet interactive concept didn’t just earn the Grand Prix—another spot from the same campaign also picked up a Gold Lion, solidifying Budweiser’s place among the most innovative audio advertisers of the year.

The Audio & Radio Lions, a category dedicated to sound-powered creativity, attracted 714 entries in 2025. From these, 21 Lions were awarded, including:

  • 1 Grand Prix
  • 3 Gold Lions
  • 8 Silver Lions
  • 9 Bronze Lions

Joining Budweiser on the Gold podium were two other standout campaigns:

  • Oreo, with an ad developed by VML, created an entirely new language to describe how the beloved cookies are stacked—playful, original, and highly on-brand.
  • Billboard Magazine, in collaboration with SRMG Labs, honoured the legacy of Saudi Arabian musician Etab with an emotive and culturally rich piece of audio storytelling.
