According to a report from Juniper Research, smart speakers like the Amazon Echo, Google Home and Sonos One will be installed in a majority (55% of U.S. households) by the year 2022. Over 70 million households will have at least one of these smart speakers in their home, and the total number of installed devices will top 175 million by that time.

The report points out that the majority of voice assistant usage won’t be through these in-home devices. Instead, most usage will occur on smartphones, with over 5 billion assistants installed on smartphones worldwide by 2022. We can expect not only the expansion of home smart speakers but also the growing integration of virtual assistants into cars.

The Mobile Voice Study by the Mountain View, CA, provider of search, online advertising technologies and other Internet products and services, found that 55% of teens aged 13-18 use voice search every day. This means for marketers and advertising agencies there is no turning back from audio and voice advertising.
